General Workshop Information

Most 2019 workshops will be on Thursdays at the Foundry Art Centre Studio 9.  Workshops start at 10:00 AM —finish time is variable and depends on participants and the skill being taught—I like to give students as much time as they need.

Lunch is available in the Foundry Great Hall and is provided by Spiro’s restaurant.   You are also welcome to bring a lunch.

Refunds can be provided up to 1 week before the class.

Mindful Felting
and Stitching

We will explore felting and stitching as an intuitive slow practice meant to help you find a space for relaxation and contemplation in your life. Simple stitches will be employed to add color and texture. Each class will focus on a different stitch or felt technique from around the world and will include samples and a slide show of different stitching traditions and artists. Class is suitable for beginners or those with more experience. (4 classes - 3 hours each)

The Felted Vessel

Learn to make a simply shaped 3D felted bowl or vase using the resist method. We will add pattern and design to our piece and discuss stitching and other means of embellishment to make your felted vessel truly one of a kind. If time allows more than one vessel may be made. Some basic experience with felting in 2 dimensions including wool layout would be best for this class (3 classes - 3 hrs each or a 7-8 hr one-day workshop available)
